Since abandoning the checkpoints and customs posts in 1991, Denmark had the same experience as every other European country absorbing refugees and asylum seekers from countries where our corporations make war for profit. The social net is stretched and a rise in nationalism has tinged all debate from the local level right to the top of government, convincing the Vikings it might be time to reel in their own drawbrige.
The melting-pot experiment in Ye Olde Europe isn’t anywhere near it’s end so we’d best save our tears till the next round of dominoes fall to the financial marauders finishing off Greece on their way to Italy and beyond. The Danes may still believe they can survive the looming avalanche in fraudulent bank paper heading their way but their fudging of the obligations in the Schengen Treaty will not sit well with the Hunnish overlords of the Frankfurt counting houses planning Europe’s feudal and final solution.
Nervous intimates of Frau Merkel were busy leaking rumours about Goldman Sachs being forced to set right what they bungled in Greece before being released to plunder what’s left of Ireland but abrupt silence in the nefarious PR campaign may indicate the Danish move caught them quite flat-footed. Yielding to popular opinion isn’t palatable for the bureaucrats of Brussels either and the last thing ECB (read Germans) need is demonstrative dissent to Central Committee (read Bilderberg Gruppenführers) diktat.
