Artificial Testicles, Rectal Probes & Fluorescent Light Fixtures

No this isn’t a shopping list for US Homeland Security supremo/a Janet Napolitano. Achieving clarity in a roundabout way often demands references, which are thankfully abundant online. Case in point; Joe Versus the Volcano, a Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan Rom Com has everything to do with supposedly energy efficient light bulbs. Oh and their employer makes unmentionable prosthetics. They both work in a suicide inducing environment that’s lit up by the same exact light bulbs governments would make mandatory for all in the very near future. Tom’s character finally embraces death.

From the start, a diabolical monopolist plan cloaked as an environmental initiative was designed to make only one type of bulb on planet earth, profit motive and nothing to do with ecology. Now, they’re having to admit efficiency numbers may have been fudged. The Wall Street Journal has their own take on the caper, ultimately total fluff;

California’s utilities are spending $548 million over seven years to subsidize consumer purchases of compact fluorescent lamps. But the benefits are turning out to be less than expected. One reason is that bulbs have gotten so cheap that Californians buy more than they need and sock them away for future use. Another reason is that the bulbs are burning out faster than expected.
